The fun and unique music of Japanese Trio SkyGarden is back to share their second single "Historya" on Spotlight Music Sessions on Friday, February 9.
Like their first single titled "Kokoa," "Historya," according to Ryo, deals with the history of his bandmate and friend, Iwa's love life. He added that he didn't expect their first two singles to deal with Iwa's love life.
“There's this two big moments na nangyari sa buhay ni Iwa. 'Yun nga po, 'Kokoa,' the first one, the high school, umiyak po talaga siya e, kasi hindi natupad,” he said.
He continued, “And then next naman, college nanaman, umiyak nanaman siya and that was one, especially andun na po si Hiro.”
Ryo further detailed that the song's story is about the unconditional love Iwa had for his girlfriend in college.
“The story is Iwa had a girlfriend when he was in college, but since nag-graduate na po sila, they had to go to other path,” he said.
Ryo admits though that they're not sure what genre their music is, but said that the closest to it is J-Rock or Japanese Rock.
“OPM po siya. It's an OPM but the style is JaPhil Rock? JaPhil Rock ba tawag natin. J-Rock OPM, so maybe we have to create something unique? New genre,” he said.
MEANWHILE, LOOK BACK ON SKYGARDEN'S CONTRACT SIGNING WITH ALTG RECORDS:
When asked what their parents and family members thought of their success in the Philippines as an artist, Ryo admitted that it's a bit awkward for Japanese to say happy news to their parents.
“Japanese sobrang shy. My parents also, dry reaction. 'Oh, congrats.' 'yun lang,” Iwa added.
“Pero sa totoo lang, 100 percent, deep inside their hearts, they're happy,” Ryo added.
