JaPinoy rock band SKyGarden showed their appreciation for Filipino culture by trying out local dishes.
Members Ryo, Iwa, and Hiro visited Tagaytay to try the famous Champorado in the city.
"So ngayon, I want to experiment [with] food. I want to eat exotic food. Nakita ko sa website, 'ano 'yung famous in Tagaytay na food' that name is Champorado," Hiro said in Facebook video.
Ryo asked Iwa, "You know Champorado, right? It's rice with chocolate. Lugaw, chocolate version."
Iwa seemed reluctant, "Rice and then matamis? Hindi bagay."
The group headed to a Filipino restaurant and ordered a Champorado dish with dried fish on the side.
Ryo recalled his childhood in the Philippines, "When I was a kid, I used to eat this, but not recently eh."
The members each tried a spoonful of Champorado and realized it's made of a special kind of rice and not regular white rice.
"Sobang chocolate...sobrang sarap," Ryo said.
Even Iwa and Hiro were amazed at the flavor.
The group also talked about their upcoming single under GMA Music titled "Historia."
Ryo described their new track, which talks about member Iwa's past relationship, "For 'Historia' just like with our first single 'KOKOA', this will also be anime style."
"Like Naruto opening a chorus, still the same JaPinoy rock."
"If you're tired and you want to feel energy please listen to "Historia."
Pre-order "Historia" now on iTunes, out on January 19, 2024.
