
Hollywood actor and Golden Globes awardee Jeff Bridges has announced that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma.
On Monday, October 19, Jeff said that he had started his treatment for the illness after hearing his doctors' news.
“I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors, and the prognosis is good,” he said on both Twitter and Instagram.
“I'm starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.”
He then thanked his family and friends for their support and asked for prayers as he starts his road to recovery from cancer.
Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is a “part of the body's germ-fighting network,” according to WebMD.
The two main types of lymphoma are the Hodgkin and the Non-Hodgkin, which most people have.
Born Jeffrey Leon Bridges, his career spans decades of film, tv, and music work starting in the 1950s, including True Grit, The Big Lebowski, Tron,” and King Kong.
He is one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation after winning numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2019 Golden Globes.
Besides being an actor, he is also a musician, an author, a photographer, and a philanthropist.
He and other entertainment industry leaders founded the End Hunger Network, which aims to encourage, stimulate, and support action to end childhood hunger.
Jeff is married to Susan Geston in 1977 and has three daughters with her, namely Isabelle Annie, Jessica Lily, and Haley Roselouise.
