Following the confirmation of their split, actress Jennica Garcia took to social media to clarify some of the assumptions of the public, especially their criticisms towards her ex-husband Alwyn Uytingco.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, Jennica said that "from a family-of-four, we are now just a family-of-three, sacrifices must really be made.” She did not disclose further details of their separation.

On Friday, May 21, Jennica clarified some speculations about their breakup that she said was caused by “a lot of new articles” about them.

She wrote, “There are a lot of new articles about me and Alwyn on the internet. There are those (not all) who did not interview me personally and yet quoted lines/parts from my original interview and pierced it together so that it will look like how they wanted it to appear to get more likes and comments.

"The good things that I said about how I honor Alwyn up to this day because he was never materialistic, hardworking and a good provider was not included in the reposted articles. FINANCIAL PROBLEM is NOT the reason.

"Going back and pursuing my career as an actress is simply the wise thing for me to do in this season in my life. Our savings was never an issue.

"If you see an article with me putting Alwyn in a bad light, please make sure it was published by a reputable source before you believe. I will NEVER say anything bad about the father of my children.

“Because what I said is twisted by other Entertainment Sources due to their chosen Titles. I will try my best to gear away from questions pertaining to Alwyn from this day forward to protect what my children will be able to read in the future.

“To those who sympathize with us, thank you. Know that even before your heart broke for my kids, for what happened to us...Alwyn and I's heart got broken too. My mind is clouded with worries and fear.

“Your criticisms are beyond our control and it is not something we can ask to be put to an end because we are public figures. I understand and accept that it comes with the job but I hope you'll understand that we get affected by your assumptions and accusations even if we do not wish to welcome it.

“Thank you for understanding.”

Meanwhile, the mom of two is about to return to showbiz after eight years through GMA Network's afternoon drama Las Hermanas.

Jennica temporarily stepped away from the limelight after giving birth to her two daughters Athena Mori Uytingco, 4, and Alessi Uytingco, 3.

Jennica and Alwyn tied the knot married in a simple ceremony in February 2014.
