My Ilonggo Girl media conference

'My Ilonggo Girl' star Jillian Ward tells why Sparkada heartthrob Michael Sager is such a sweet leading man.

Star of the New Gen Jillian Ward showered her leading man Michael Sager with lots of praises during the grand media conference of their newest GMA Prime series My Ilonggo Girl held on January 9 at the Luxent Hotel.

This is not the first-time that Jillian Ward and Michael Sager will be working together, because they shared the screen already in the high-rating daytime drama series Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap and in the weekly-fantasy series Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko.

In an interview with 24 Oras, the Sparkle actress praised Michael Sager for being "sweet" on set.

Jillian Ward told Aubrey Carampel, “Actually si Michael po sobrang maalaga po siya sa mga ka-work niya as in lagi yang nanlilibre, lagi nangungumusta. So sobrang komportable ko po sa kaniya, which is super helpful sa mga eksena.”

Michael also has kind words for his My Ilonggo Girl leading lady, describing Jill as a “great actress.”

“Ang galing ni Jill, talagang 'pag isang karakter siya ramdam mo na siya 'yun. And dun ako nae-excite iba 'yung chemistry namin with the two characters and iba pa 'yung chemistry with Jillian itself.”

Many fans were surprised about Jillian's previous revelation with Nelson Canlas that her mom and dad had already gone their separate ways in 2024.

Despite the pain of what happened to her parents, Jill stated that she learned the value of freely talking about this part of her life and added that it's okay to be “vulnerable” to the public.

The Sparkle actress explained, “This year, natutunan ko po na 'pag may nararamdaman ako or meron ako na-o-observe, tapos I want to speak about it, feeling ko po mas tama talaga na you express yourself, kasi para mas magiging carefree ka in a way, mas magiging magaan. At saka, parang mas honest ka sa sarili mo.

“It's okay to be vulnerable.”

Beginning January 13, "kilig" is back on primetime with the world premiere of My Ilonggo Girl at 9:35 p.m. on GMA Prime.
