Jo Koy and Apo Whang Od

Jo Koy finally gets himself inked by legendary mambabatok Apo Whang-Od

Filipino-American stand-up comedian Jo Koy is the most recent celebrity to get inked by legendary mambabatok Apo Whang-Od.

Wang-Od is often described as the oldest mambabatok and is part of the Butbut people. Pambabatok, meanwhile, is the art of traditional tattooing by tapping a needle-like tool onto the skin.

Jo Koy shared a few pictures on his Instagram account of himself and Whang-Od, pictures of the mambabatok herself inking him, and a few tools she used for her craft.

“I've been blessed by the legend. Mahal kita Apo Whang-Od,” Jo Koy captioned his post.

This is not the first pambabatok the Filipino-American comedian experienced. In 2023, Jo got a tattoo by mambabatok Wilma “Ate Wamz” Gaspili at Igorot's Charm Cafe across Baguio Botanical Garden.
