Joey Marquez opened up about how he and his ex-wife Alma Moreno kept their friendship strong through the years.

In a recent episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the actor and TV host remained best friends despite their past as a married couple.

“Kasi siguro, na-realize namin pareho, na kailangan i-consider namin ang mga anak namin. Whatever na mag-away kami, maapektuhan 'yung mga bata. So what we did, sabi ko, 'Hindi man tayo tumagal ng husband and wife, but we can be friends or best friend. By doing that, para naman ma-compensate naman 'yung lungkot ng mga anak natin na naghiwalay tayo,'” Joey said.

Joey Marquez is currently in a relationship with his non-showbiz partner, Malu Quintana. According to him, he always informs Malu whenever he communicates with his former wife, Alma Moreno, out of respect for their relationship.

“Siyempre with due respect din. Respeto sa lahat. Kasi, siyempre, 'yung ka-partner mo, huwag mo siyang iba-blind side, kailangan alam din niya because that's what partners are for,” Joey added.

He revealed that Malu and Alma are also friends.

“Ang sabi ko nga, 'Nagkamali na ako, umabuso na ako, bakit ko pa gagawing malala? Siguro I have to solve it in a good way,” dagdag ni Joey.

Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno were married for 12 years and had four children together: Yeoj, Win-win, VJ, and their adopted child, Em-Em. The couple tied the knot in Las Vegas in 1989. Their marriage was annulled in 2004.
