Athlete-turned-actor John Vic De Guzman returns to action on the volleyball court. He recently joined several players in the Philippine men's volleyball team tryouts. The squad will compete and represent the country in the 31st Southeast Asian Games to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

John was part of the national team that took home the silver medal in the 2019 SEA Games, ending the nation's medal drought. He hoping to get the nod from national coach Dante Alinsunurin and be part of the team.

Some of those spotted in the Subic tryouts were Marck Espejo, Joeven dela Vega, Chumason Njigha Jr., Kim Malabunga, Francis Saura, and Ish Polvorosa.

The Owe My Love actor shared his thoughts about joining the tryouts.

John posted, “Para sa bayan , papalo ako. Sa kabila ng hirap sa paghinga dahil sa face mask, mga kinakalawang na tuhod dahil sa pagkahinto ng mga liga, at mangilan ngilan na magsasabing panahon na dapat ng iba - dadating ako, andito kami tinawag muli para pagsilbihan ang bansa.

“Hindi po ito ang panahon para magkawatak watak dahil sa magkakaibang opinyon, ito ang panahon na dapat magkaisa tayo para kahit sa kabila ng ating pinagdadaanan, maiangat namin muli ang Philippine Men's Volleyball sa Southeast Asia! 🏐🙏🏻Ano man ang maging resulta sa try out ngayon - asahan n'yo po ang aking buong pusong suporta at pakikiisa. 🇵🇭”
