Seasoned TV and movie actor Johnny Revilla has built a reputation as one of the best drama talents in show business. You might remember him for his roles in the blockbuster movies A Very Special Love (2008) and You Changed My Life (2009) starring John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo.
In addition, we saw his drama prowess on TV last year in the series Stories from the Heart: The End of Us starring Carmina Villarroel and Zoren Legaspi.
With a career spanning decades, we asked the brilliant actor for his advice to all aspiring young talents, who want to become an actor.
In a chance interview with GMANetwork.com, Sir. Johnny emphasized that the job as an actor is a difficult one.
He said, “Hindi, seriously it's a very hard job. It's a thankless job in many ways because you might be the most popular person today, but tomorrow you never know what will happen. There's a saying, 'you are only as good as your last movie or last TV show.'”
Revilla then continued, “Remember that's true! Sa mga young people who want to come in, gusto n'yo maging artista, very few make it towards the end and last for a long-time. So, remember that as you go into this craft.”
The actor also listed down the qualities he thinks are important to succeed in the entertainment industry.
“Kailangan magaling ka, kailangan mabait ka. Kailangan dedicated ka sa trabaho mo, hardworking then you probably [will] succeed.”
He also added that aspiring for longevity in the entertainment world is a rare commodity given to a chosen few.
“Remember mga kids, this is not a permanent job. Your popularity is not permanent also, hindi ba mahirap? I mean, how many people really last? I'm blessed that up to this day I can work as an actor, but not many people can do that. So just think about it.”
