Kapuso host Joyce Pring recently interviewed the medical doctor and known mental health advocate, Dr. Gia Sison, on her podcast Adulting with Joyce Pring and they talked about how coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic affects the mental health of an individual.
The good doctor gave some tips on how to deal with the anxiety and the panic brought about COVID-19 and the ongoing Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
Ask for support
Dr. Sison said, "[This pandemic] will really cause panic and anxiety so we have to take care of our mental health.
"We have to be aware of how we feel...It won't help kasi now na kinikimkim natin 'yung feelings natin.
"Now is the best time to ask for support. There are a lot of people who are willing to lend support."
Social media distancing
Dr. Sison also stressed: "Try to minimize your, may social media distancing din. You have to choose na lang siguro kung sinong papakinggan mo, choose credible sources para hindi 'yung information overload [which] can actually trigger anxiety.
“It's okay to be informed, it's just that may tendency tayo na ang dami nating pinupuntahang sources na we don't know na what's true.”
Meanwhile, Joyce shared with her listeners something she's been doing to minimize her anxiety. In an earlier podcast, Joyce admitted that she's being anxious because of COVID-19.
