Before being widely-recognized around the globe for her role as Kang Sae-byeok in 'Squid Game,' Jung Ho-yeon was an international model already.

Squid Game star Jung Ho-yeon was very candid during her exclusive interview with Vogue, which was uploaded on its YouTube channel. She talked about the experience of doing the highly-popular Netflix series.

Yes, we all fell in love with her performance as Kang Sae-byeok, but she was already an international model strutting the catwalk for the biggest luxury brands.

In fact, Ho-yeon competed in season four of Korea's Next Top Model (2013), where she finished in second place.

Ho-yeon admitted some of the closest people around her were worried that she was starting from scratch if she became an actress.

She said, “Many people and especially my friends have said to me out of concern, wouldn't you be starting from the beginning if you became an actor?”

The model-actress continued, “Aren't you afraid of letting go of the career you've built through hard work and the level of recognition you have in your field?”

Despite the risk, Jung Ho-yeon felt that doing Squid Game was “worth it” and being a rookie in a new field is a lot more fun to do for her.

Ho-yeon explained, “I've gotten asked this question a lot. But for me, beginning as a rookie felt like a more exciting and fun thing to do. And working on Squid Game was so fun and worth it.”

Several Korean entertainment sites have also reported that Jung Ho-yeon has started the preparation to enter Hollywood by signing a contract with a talent and sports agency handling the careers of Brad Pitt, Beyonce, Justin Bieber, and Tom Hanks.
