Community Pantry

K-pop boy groups BTS and EXO would definitely be proud of their Filipino fans!

As the spirit of bayanihan continues to live on in the country, fans of K-pop boy groups BTS and EXO have recently set up their own community pantries in Cavite and Malabon to help people in need amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

On Facebook, the ARMY Cavite Fanbase set up their community pantries in Dasmariñas, Cavite. To be exact, in Windward Hills Subdivision and Manuela Ville Subdivision.

In a report by GMA News, Bie Rosales, one of the members of ARMY Cavite Fanbase, said that they were heavily inspired by their idols who are known for having a great heart when it comes to charities.

She said, “Ito po ang naisip naming way para makapagbigay ng tulong, pag-asa, at ngiti sa aming kapwa Pilipino dahil alam din po naming mahirap na para sa lahat ang maghanap buhay sa kalagitnaan ng pandemya.”

Meanwhile, EXO-L Kristine Santos also established her own community pantry in Brgy. Maysilo, Malabon.

Her community pantry is decked with posters and mini-standees of the EXO members as a way to promote the space.

But Kristine advised, “Hindi po kasama ang poster. Get only what you need and share what you can.”

To date, there are many community pantries established within Metro Manila and other nearby provinces, which was mainly inspired by the Maginhawa Street, Quezon City community pantry.

Even Kapuso actress Gabbi Garcia helped organize the community pantry in her neighborhood with the help of BF Northwest Homeowners Association Inc.

She wrote on Instagram, “Posting this with nothing but pure and good intentions. This is to inspire everyone that despite the situation, we can all help each other in our own little way.

"Thank you to our small community for making this possible! Thank you also to everyone who stopped by to drop their donations. May God Bless you more!"

"To all the community pantries, SALAMAT SA INYO! Keep going! God bless your pure hearts! Tayo tayo ang magtulungan."
