Korean singer Heo Chan of boy group VICTON is reportedly leaving the group after a police investigation for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Heo Chan has personally written an apology letter to the public. In Korean he wrote, "I apologize for causing social controversy due to my wrongful behavior on September 20. I'm sincerely reflecting on my wrongdoing, and I'm spending each and every day immersed in regret and self-blame.”

On October 11, VICTON's management company IST Entertainment officially announced Heo Chan's departure from the group.

In a statement shared on VICTON's fancafe, IST Entertainment stated, "We sincerely thank the fans who care for VICTON, and we are making an announcement regarding a change to the member lineup. After careful discussion with all of the VICTON members including Heo Chan, it has been decided that Heo Chan will be leaving the group.

"This decision was made by taking into consideration the opinions of Heo Chan, who said that he did not wish to cause further damage [to the group], and the other members."

The label also added that VICTON will be reorganized into a six-member group with members Seungwoo, Seungsik, Sejun, Hanse, Byungchan, and Soobin, but will be promoting as five members while Seungwoo is serving his mandatory military service. The “2022 VICTON Fan Concert [CHRONICLE]” will still continue on October 15-16 as scheduled.

Heo Chan was also in the news when he contracted COVID-19 in November 2021. He recovered in early December 2021.

VICTON is a six-member boy group under IST Entertainment. Originally as seven, they officially debuted on November 9, 2016 with the mini album Voice To New World.
