K-pop superstar and Scarlet Heart actress IU is COVID-19 negative.
The actress, singer, and brand ambassador took the necessary precaution after it was reported that she got exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 in a wedding event she attended.
In a report by allkpop.com on November 10, IU had to postpone her schedules temporarily to get herself tested, after singer Lim Chang-jung got a positive result.
According to the article, both IU and Lim Chang-jung performed in the wedding of Lee Ji-hoon. Unfortunately, Chang-jung tested positive the following day.
Part of the report reads, “An official from EDAM Entertainment told one exclusive media outlet, 'All the schedules for today will be postponed, and [IU] will undergo the COVID-19 test. IU entered through a separate entrance, one that is used by the staff members, to sing the congratulatory song and then left. She did not cross paths with Lim Chang Jung'."
EDAM Entertainment released another update about the singer's condition today, November 11, and announced that IU is free from COVID-19.
Allkpop.com shared the official statement from the agency saying, “Back on November 8, we received the report that someone from an acquaintance's wedding ceremony, which IU attended, tested positive for COVID-19.
"At the exact time and location, IU sang the congratulatory song while wearing her mask, and left the location right after singing. She did not cross paths with the positive confirmed case.
"Nonetheless, as a preventative measure, IU and the other staff members present at the location underwent a rapid PCR test. IU and all the staff members received a negative result.
"IU will continue to follow all quarantine guidelines, and we will do our best for the safety and health of our artists. Thank you."
