Gilas Pilipinas star Kai Sotto is on the road to recovery after undergoing an operation to fix his ACL injury.
The 7'3" tower shared on his Instagram post last January 8 that he tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Kai is playing for the Koshigaya in the Japan B. League
He wrote, “The worst way to start the year, might be the darkest day of my basketball career, when i was told i tore my ACL. Tough to let this one sink in. I appreciate all the love and support everyone has given me these past few days. I know God has a better plan for me and we just have to keep going.”

In a recent health update via Instagram Story, the basketball superstar shared a photo of himself after his operation with the caption, “Operation done. TYL.”
Meanwhile, Gilas Pilipinas coach Tim Cone stated in an interview that Kai will miss the FIBA Asia Cup campaign in August. "Hopefully he'll be starting to play sometime in the World Cup qualifiers. And then from there, we count the months. Minimum nine, probably 12. A guy that's seven-foot-two usually takes longer [recovery], so we're thinking maybe a year. He'll be out for maybe a year,"
