Besting the likes of Superstar Nora Aunor and Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos, Niño actress, Angeli Bayani took home the Best Actress award at the 37th Gawad Urian Awards.

Held on June 17, the biggest names and the brightest minds in showbiz gathered together to honor this year’s best in the film industry.

Winning Best Actress was unexpected for Angeli Bayani, who admittedly did not prepare a speech. After accepting her award onstage, the Kapuso actress expressed how overwhelmed she was to be even nominated alongside the likes of Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, Cherie Gil and Eugene Domingo.

She even joked that she might have to hide from Noranians and Vilmanians because of her award.

Besides Angeli Bayani, talented director Adolf Alix, Jr. was also recognized that night. He won the award for Best Production Design.

Adolf Alix, Jr. is the genius behind award-winning GMA News TV series, Bayan Ko. He is also the director of Sa Puso ni Dok, a GMA News TV series starring Dennis Trillo and Bela Padilla.

Congratulations, Angeli and Adolf!
