Several Kapuso stars were nominated at the Entertainment Editors’ Choice Award for Movies or the ‘Eddys.’ The award-giving body, which is on its inaugural year, is spearheaded by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (Speed).
 
The list of Kapuso nominees are as follows:
 
Best Actress – Jaclyn Jose (Ma’Rosa)
Best Actress – Ai-Ai delas Alas (Area)
Best Actress – Rhian Ramos (Saving Sally)
Best Actor – Paolo Ballesteros (Die Beautiful)
Best Actor – Dingdong Dantes (The Unmarried Wife)
Best Supporting Actress – Barbie Forteza (Tuos)
 
According to Speed President Isah V. Red, it is a way of entertainment editors to give industry stakeholders more reasons to be proud of their work.
 
“Given our collective experience and many decades of chronicling the careers, artistic processes and success or failure of actors, directors, producers and other players in the Philippine movie industry, we felt that we are in a distinctive position to hand out sound and sincere recognition of the best in filmmaking of the past year, and eventually inspire everyone in the industry to take pride in their craft and continue to enrich the Filipino talent,” he said.    
 
The awards ceremony will be held at the Kia Theatre on July 9.
