Philippine theater's cream of the crop were honored last June 6 at the 6th Gawad Buhay Awards. The event was held at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino Little Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Among those recognized that night was 9Works’ theatrical re-staging of Grease. Directed by Robbie Guevara, it was named Outstanding Production of Existing Material for a Musical (Adaptation).
The theatrical production was lead by Kapuso star, Frencheska Farr, who took on the role of Sandy Dumbrowski. She was paired with Gian Magdangal, who played Dany Zuko in the musical.
Farr got her first big break when she was named the winner of reality singing show, Are You The Next Big Star? in 2009. Since then, she has appeared in GMA TV series including One True Love, Bukod Kang Pinagpala and Binoy Henyo.
Up-and-coming Kapuso heartthrob, Rafa Siguion-Reyna was also part of the Grease cast, where he played the role of Kenickie. The Niño star is the son of filmmakers Carlos Siguion-Reyna and Bibeth Orteza. He also graduated from New York University, where he studied acting.
Congratulations, Frencheska and Rafa!
