As she marked her 30th year in the industry, veteran broadcast journalist Kara David reaffirmed her loyalty as a Kapuso.
On Tuesday, July 8, the I-Witness host renewed her contract with GMA Network, sharing that she owes her career to the network that took a chance on her three decades ago.
"Sobrang hindi ko ine-expect na aabot ako sa point na ganito kasi noong 1995, ayan in-age reveal ko na. Noong 1995, bumagsak po ako sa lahat ng exam po. Lahat po ng network, nag-apply po ako sa lahat ng network tapos 'yung isang network, 'yung kapitbahay natin, hanggang guwardiya lang ako," she shared, reflecting on how far she has come.
Failing every exam and audition, Kara admitted she never imagined she would find a place in the industry.
"It was only GMA who took a gamble on me and sobrang hindi ko po 'yun makakalimutan. Hindi ko po 'yun makakalimutan na kayo lang po, GMA lang," Kara expressed.
She also offered advice to young and aspiring journalists and encouraged them to keep chasing their dreams.
"Minsan may mga taong ibibigay 'yung mundo na bibigyan ka talaga ng chance," she said, reminding them that opportunities do come.
Before becoming an award-winning journalist and reporter, Kara shared that she once worked as a production assistant, researcher, and writer.
Recently, Kara received recognition with the Star Icon of Investigative Journalism and Media Excellence Award at the recent Global Filipino Awards.
