Kapuso drama actress Kate Valdez received a warm welcome from viewers as she made her teleserye comeback via Unica Hija which premiered today, November 7.

Kate leads the newest Kapuso afternoon series, a family drama with a unique concept about human cloning.

On Twitter, KATE VALDEZ became a trending topic following the release of the pilot episode of Unica Hija on GMA Afternoon Prime.

Kate received compliments for playing a new character named Bianca. It's a welcome change for her and her viewers, who were used to seeing her as a kontrabida in her previous projects.

One netizen also praised Kate's chemistry with Katrina Halili who plays her loving mother in the series. Like Kate, Katrina used to play the bad girl on television.

The show opened with Kate's character, Bianca, reading the Bible to a group of kids in front of a church. Bianca read the book of Genesis, telling the kids how God created heaven and earth, and all forms of life.

It coincidedly showed her father, Christian (Alfred), a scientist, working in his laboratory, as he attempted to clone a puppy with the assistance of Melinda (Lilet) and Lucas (Bernard Palanca).

The pilot episode of Unica Hija then introduced Diane (Katrina Halili), wife of Christian and mom of Bianca. She is God-fearing and believes that everything should be made only by God, a virtue that Diane instills upon her daughter.

Bianca came from a well-off family. Her life seems to be perfect but Diane feels Christian has no time for them. Christian explains that he is about to finish a breakthrough project and promises to make time with them. Diane and Bianca seem to be competing for Christian's time with his laboratory and science project.

When Bianca sneaks into her daddy's laboratory with her friend Cara (Therese Malvar), she sees his clone experiment, a puppy that looks like her dead dog Winky.

Unica Hija airs weekdays at 3:25 p.m. after Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap on GMA Afternoon Prime.

It also has a livestreaming on the official Facebook page of GMA Network.
