After two whole days of receiving backlash from pageant fans, Miss Universe Philippines host KC Montero is finally shutting down his critics by posting the full video of what transpired during the competition between him and Bohol representative Pauline Amelinckx.
In the aired version of the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, many fans were confused about the editing, thus putting the blame on KC.
But, as the Filipino-American host reiterated, a lot of material has been cut down. This was proven in his Instagram post that showed KC making fun of himself before proceeding with his question for the beauty queen.
“For the past 2 days, I've tried to explain myself over and over again. I've been receiving so much hate from the supporters of Ms. Bohol,” he said.
“I've tried to explain that in no way would I have disrespected their candidate and that there's a longer joke that wasn't aired due to time restraints.
“You can clearly see that we are having a friendly conversation.”
He continued, “Being in her position is stressful, so I was trying to lessen the tension by making her laugh.
“I am sorry to anyone who got offended by the edited video. I have so much respect for all the ladies and the people behind @themissuniverseph!”
KC then congratulated all the winners and said that he hoped the video would shed light on the issue.
“I hope this ends all of the bashing that's coming my way,” he said.
“I should've just let this go and focused on the positive aspects of the event. But instead, I opened my mouth to defend myself, which seemed to draw more attention to what was to Pauline and I an innocent joke.
“The shitstorm that followed was unpleasant.”
He continued, “So, I hope everyone can see the joke in its entirety. If you still don't like me after seeing this, then I'm ok with it. At least you have all the information to form your opinions. I'm done with this.”
