And host Joey Marquez is very happy with what the Kung Ako Ikaw has given to the viewing public! Text and Photos by Jason S. Lim. “These are the ordinary things na, we could not imagine that there’s such a thing that exists,” Joey Marquez begins. The show is definitely a breath of fresh air from the usual comedy programs that grace this timeslot. Aside from providing laughter, it also gives us a look into the very different world of workers that we never thought existed -- done by celebrities. stars So far, we’ve seen publicly gay personalities become cargo boys at a wet market, sexy stars become jeepney barkers and sexy comediennes become potters. The former Mayor comments that he considers the first challenge his favorite. “Tuwang-tuwa ako kay Sweet [John Lapus], kasi ang sabi nga niya, ang tanging kinakarga lang niya ay sarili niya. Pero all of a sudden, nagkakarga na siya ng baboy at tsaka ng mga patatas.” Joey shares that seeing the celebrities do this menial jobs is his favorite part of the show. Especially since he never thought they would do such things. He also reveals that they’re not stopping with celebrities. “Marami pang surprises diyan. We’re also trying to invite some of the prominent personalities to do ordinary jobs.” Joey adds that he’s looking forward to seeing if their challengers would be up for taking down billboards. “And I was thinking, let us invite some politicians. Call it, ‘The Rise and Fall of the Billboards’.” But the hosts aren’t exempt from the challenges either. Joey lets slip that there are already plans for him and his co-host Keempee De Leon to do some challenges as well. “Part of the scenario ‘yan na meron gagawin kaming extreme. To show na kami ni Keempee, hindi lang kami magho-host kundi ‘yung mga pinakita naming mga ordinaryong trabaho, naghahanap pa talaga (kami) ng mas kahindik-hindik pa.” “Kumbaga ay gusto namin ‘yung mga life-threatening,” he follows before laughing. A little more seriously, he adds, “Para at least makita nila na he who leads must follow.” It’s also an informative show. At the same time, people who watch it also have a chance to win some (money) for their needs din. Tsaka nakakatawa. It’s not a challenge, it’s not a competition. It’s about how finessed and how right you can do an ordinary job.” Tune in every Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to Kung Ako Ikaw, after the GMA Telebabad block and get a chance to be the luck home viewer who wins 20,000 pesos!
