Atty. Margrein Archernar M. Gregana clarifies Kim Chiu's side regarding her sister's 124 counts of qualified theft.
Kim Chiu's legal team has officially released a statement regarding the arrest of the actress's sister, Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu.
In a report by Emil Sumangil on 24 Oras, Atty. Margrein Archernar M. Gregana, legal counsel for Kim and The House of LittleBunny Philippines, Inc. (HOLB), clarified that the charges against the businesswoman "are not a personal matter between her and Ms. Kim Chiu. The charges involve corporate funds that were unlawfully taken."
The lawyer added, "To be clear, these actions were taken strictly by HOLB, in which Ms. Kim Chiu is a shareholder, to recover the company's missing funds and ensure accountability among those involved."
According to the statement, the current complaint covers only a portion of 2025 and does not include other years of oversight.
As the lawyer stated, "The corporation is duty-bound to act to prevent further financial losses.”
Atty. Gregana also noted that Lakambini, her representatives, or her legal counsel had not contacted HOLB's officers, its legal counsel, or Kim.
"HOLB and Ms. Kim Chiu remain fully committed to pursuing complete accountability and recovery through the proper legal channels, and we defer to the wisdom of the courts," the lawyer stated.

In December 2025, Kim announced that she had filed a qualified theft complaint against her older sister after discovering “serious financial discrepancies” in her business in May and June 2025.
The It's Showtime host admitted it was a hard and painful decision.
“Unfortunately, substantial amounts connected to my business assets were found missing. These discoveries forced me to take formal action to protect not just my company, but also the livelihoods of the people who work with me and the integrity of everything I have built,” she added.
On September 20, authorities arrested Lakambini Chiu on 124 counts of qualified theft.
The Kamuning Police Station apprehended Lakambini in Mandaluyong City with a warrant of arrest issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 24. The court set bail at approximately PhP 5.8 million.
The suspect is currently detained at the Kamuning Police Station.
