Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu, the older sister of actress and It's Showtime host Kim Chiu, has been charged with 124 counts of qualified theft following “unusually large withdrawals” totaling nearly PhP44.4 million from the corporate funds of their company, House of Little Bunny Philippines, Inc. (HOLB).
The Office of the City Prosecutor of Quezon City found sufficient grounds to charge Lakam after reviewing the statements and evidence related to Kim's complaint, which was formally filed on July 15, 2026.
Kim filed a case against her sister after discovering unusually large withdrawals from the company's accounts in May and June 2025.
Among the transactions she questioned were online transfers totaling around PhP1.8 million made between June 10 and 16, 2025.
The complaint also detailed another series of transactions that allegedly reduced an account balance from around PhP9 million to just PhP4,022.19. Kim further claimed that transactions amounting to PhP2.796 million were made between July 18 and 23, 2025.
According to Kim, Lakam later admitted to taking money from their joint accounts and returned PhP2 million. Kim claimed that Lakam said the money had been used for a casino “junket” business.
Later, following an ultimatum from Kim, Lakam allegedly admitted to using the money for “gambling” at a “casino” and to paying off her “personal debts.” Kim, however, claimed that additional funds remained unaccounted for.
Lakam serves as the treasurer and general manager of HOLB, where she is responsible for the “safekeeping of corporate funds, management of the company's daily and overall operations, supervision of staff, procurement of supplies, and ensuring compliance with government operations.”
