Kim delos Santos shared that her last relationship, with a Filipino in the U.S., ended after 11 years. She has now been single for eight years. Is her heart still open ro love?
In Monday's episode of Fast Talk With Boy Abunda, Kim revealed that her last relationship lasted for 11 years. Kim was in a relationship with a fellow Filipino who also lived in the US. They were engaged before separating. Prior to this, she was married to T.G.I.S. co-star Dino Guevarra from 2002 to 2004.
“I had an 11-year relationship. Fiance ko na po. We were supposed to get married, so between Dino and my fiance, it was 18 years. So two guys,” Kim shared.
“Tapos 'non, hindi na ako nag-boyfriend noong nag-break kami ng fiancé ko. Nag-self healing na lang ako," she added.
“Naging comfort ko siya. Parang takot ako sobrang ma-in love, 'yung parang safe lang,” she said.
When asked for the reason of their break up, Kim answered, "Nawalan ng love, parang naging magkapatid. You run out of love."
Kim explained that her ex-fiancé loved her in the same way she had once loved Dino.
"Sa kaniya ko naintindihan kung ano naramdaman sa 'kin ni Dino, 'yung masyadong clingy, 'yung laging nakadikit, 'yung parang universe mo 'yung isang tao. That's why hindi na 'ko galit kay Dino. When I looked back, 'yung eight years na [single] ako, I was trying to figure out what am I doing wrong and what's wrong with the relationships? And then I realized, 'yun nga," she said.
"Mabait, love ako,” Kim described her ex-fiance. “And then nakita ko 'yung parang, that was me with Dino. So nawawala pala 'pag sobra, it will push you away."
Kim remains open to now that she has been single for eight years, and she hopes her next relationship could be for keeps.
She told Tito Boy, "Eight years na po akong single, as in talagang wala. I believe na if it's time, God will provide. Darating 'yan, ibibigay ni Lord 'yan. Kasi kapag ako namili, baka mali na naman. So, pinag-pi-pray ko, 'Lord, if it's time, sana siya na.'
Kim also shared that she plans to stay in the Philippines for as long as she can work in the country. Tito Boy asked Kim if she is moving back to the Philippines for good, and Kim replied, "Only if I have work, kasi Tito Boy, it's hard to just jump in then wait tapos nakatengga ka lang. If I do have work, then why not? Babalik po muna ako [ng Amerika]."
Kim also thanked Tito Boy for being one of the people who motivated her to pursue a career while in the US, where she currently works as a nurse. Kim said, "The beauty of being a nurse, [being] in the medical field, I can always go back home and get a job. That's a blessing that you helped me get."
