Kim Jong-kook is officially tying the knot!
The Running Man star is set to wed in a private ceremony with only close friends and family in attendance at a location in Seoul, according to Soompi on Monday, August 18.
Soompi quoted a representative from his agency, Turbo.JK Company, who shared that the occasion “is even more meaningful to make this new start in the significant year of his 30th debut anniversary.”
The outlet also released a transcription of Jong-kook's handwritten letter, where the singer admitted to feeling “even more nervous than I could have ever imagined” as he prepared for this milestone.
“I'm getting married,” he wrote, adding that while he “tried to drop small hints here and there,” he understands that “many people… feel as if this came suddenly.”
Marking three decades since his debut, Jong-kook reflected on this new chapter: “This is my 30th debut anniversary, and instead of making the album I wanted, I made my 'other half' instead. Still, please congratulate and support me.”
Jong-kook has opened up further about his upcoming marriage, saying the ceremony will be an intimate one.
“The wedding will take place sometime soon on a scale that is not too big with family, close friends and a few acquaintances,” Jong-kook revealed, as he went on to thank his loyal fans, calling them his greatest strength for such a long time.
In his handwritten letter, the Running Man star also shared his feelings about this new stage in life. “I am getting married and taking on a new challenge in life again,” he wrote, assuring fans that he will “continue to work harder and live diligently as Kim Jong-kook.”
Earlier this year, the South Korean celebrity was in Manila to attend the first-ever Waterbomb event held in the Philippines.
