Kio Dy, brother of volleyball star Kim Kianna Dy, is grieving the passing of his newborn baby Kaelo.
Kio Dy, brother of volleyball player Kim Kianna Dy, shared the loss of the child he had with his wife Lauren Kim.
Born on July 17, Kio and Lauren's first child Kaelo Do-Yoon Ha Dy passed away on Saturday, August 12. Kio sadly shared the news of his passing on Instagram. He posted pictures of his baby and moments from the birth, along with a statement for everyone regarding the heartbreaking event.
“Our beautiful son, Kaelo Do-Yoon Ha Dy, came into this world on July 17 and left us far too soon on August 12,” Kio wrote in the caption.
Despite being filled with grief, the volleyball player's brother remained deeply full of gratitude, especially toward the Almighty: “Firstly, thanks be to God for blessing us with our beloved Kaelo.”
Kio promptly expressed his appreciation to their loved ones, who he said shielded them while they mourned and regained their strength.
“To our families and friends, thank you for protecting us and giving our family the time and space to build ourselves back the last couple of weeks, thank you for being our rock during this difficult time,” he noted.
Kio extended sincere thanks to everyone who supported his wife and son from pregnancy through this heartbreaking period.
“To all who protected and wished Lauren and Kaelo well throughout her pregnancy and even after, thank you,” he shared.
“We will forever be grateful to those who chose compassion, understanding, and kindness toward our family,” he added.
His direct words to baby Kaelo reflected immense love, strength, and lingering tenderness.
“Do-yoona, Aga.. Appa and Eomma love and miss you so much. We are heartbroken, but we are blessed that you gave us a love that we will carry for the rest of our lives. Our family started with you and we promise that it won't end with you,” expressed Kio.
Concluding his post, Kio requested space and privacy from the public as their family navigates this painful period.
“As we navigate this unimaginable loss, we kindly ask for your understanding and respect for our privacy. Please allow us and our families the time and space to grieve. Thank you so much,” he requested.
The couple first went public with their pregnancy journey in February 2026, when they announced online that they were expecting their first child.
Kio is the brother of Philippine volleyball star Kim Kianna Dy and content creators Kaila and Cheeni Dy.
