Many are expecting Kapuso star Kobe Paras to be the first pure Filipino NBA player. According to the 2015 FIBA 3x3 Slam Dunk champion, he appreciates his fans but he wants to remind them that he's still far away from achieving that dream.

"NBA is a dream, it's everyone's dream. I know the community talks about it all the time. I appreciate it but let's talk about reality. I'm still in high school," Kobe shared.

For now, Kobe keeps NBA off his mind and focuses on being a Cathedral High School Phantom.

"I'm focusing on my studies. I'm a student-athlete and I want my grades to be high. I want my basketball skills to be good as well so I'm gonna focus first on my high school and then college. And then from college, let's just talk about it [NBA plans] then," Kobe said.

He added, "Right now, it's funny talaga when people say NBA because they don't see people in the States that are like in my place and they're talking about NBA kaagad. They're all focusing on the moment because once you're distracted by something, it might ruin your reputation."

Kobe hopes that Filipinos would understand his situation but fans need not worry as NBA remains in his goals.
