Who wouldn’t be carried away with the teary-eyed Rochelle Panganiban, trying to fight for her pride or the fiesty Jopay Paguia trying to figure out the truth?
Who doesn't loves a bida? So, who wouldn’t be carried away with the teary-eyed Rochelle Panganiban, trying to fight for her pride or the fiesty Jopay Paguia trying to figure out the truth? We empathise with these protagonists and identify with them. Text by Alula Love M. Dela Cruz. Photos by Connie M. Tungul. The drama, intrigues and plot of the story drives our imagination wild. We want to know what happens to our bida after she finds out the plot against her. As we watch their struggles unfold, we also want to strangle the kontrabidas that make their lives so difficult. This is what keeps us hanging on to Daisy Siete. daisy It’s all about the bida, but there would be no bida without a kontrabida after all. Meet Sunshine and Mia, our 24/7 Sexbomb antagonists-for-hire. In the new season of Daisy Siete called Mano-Mano, Sunshine plays a choreographer and Mia is her best friend. Both belong to the Socials, a dance group out to make their rivals, the Jologs, lives a living hell. Who says playing the Nemesis is easy? Sunshine explains that playing the kontrabida is a lot of hard work. They are lucky because in this season of the story is lighter compared to their previous season. “Yung mga scripts na dito medyo light. Noon kasi killer ako." She admits that she finds it funny that she’s been given these kinds of characters to play, “Angelic face naman kami ni Mia”. Even Mia wonders the same thing, “Di raw bagay sa akin magpaka-bait, ang plastic daw eh.” Both Mia and Sunshine have been playing kontrabida roles for quite sometime now. When asked if their characters in this particular season somehow have, a change of heart both replied “Hindi! kontrabida talaga kami”. Sunshine confesses that it’s no easy task playing this type of role, talking about a day where she was so happy when she arrived in the set and then she reads her lines and she has to act like she’s mad when she’s really not. “Mahirap na nga na lagi kang umiiyak diba? Paano naman kung lagi kang galet”. daisy So far all of her hard work has made her an effective kontrabida to the viewers. Even the fans of the show think it’s real! She tells us about an incident where she overheard a Rochelle Panganiban fan, say “Nakakabanas naman” in reference to Sunshine the character but also to Sunshine herself. She admits she also gets offended by this. It only goes to show how authentic Sunshine and Mia are in their evil roles. According to Sunshine, to be effective you have to bring out that part which is the worst of you. Their director told her, that there has to be a mean and evil person inside of her she just has to let it out. Sunshine as well as Mia must have really had to dig deep to find the dark side of their usually positive personalities. Watch Daisy Siete: Mano-Mano Mondays to Fridays at GMA 7.
