Kris Aquino reflects on turning 55: 'I am now praying to reach 60'

Kris Aquino is celebrating her 55th birthday with optimism and gratitude as she continues her healing journey.

In a new Instagram post shared on Valentine's Day, the TV host and actress posted a photo of herself surrounded by birthday balloons, reflecting on resilience and faith despite ongoing health challenges.

She opened her message with lyrics from South Border's song “Rainbow,” writing: “Even if there is pain now/ Everything would be alright/ For as long as the world still turns/ There will be night and day.”

Kris also gave an update on her recovery, revealing that although she is still not allowed to walk outside until her stitches are removed in the coming weeks, she is now able to move around without assistance and rarely uses a wheelchair.

“I hope you all realize that [RB Chanco] is a magician, my skin in my face is in good shape for someone turning 55 on Saturday, February 14, but I'm not allowed to have any sun exposure nor put any cream on my face or massage my neck area; I'll share with you in 5 weeks why everyone is so protective and doing their best to not let me take an accidental fall because that would be seriously life threatening for me,” she said.

The “Queen of All Media” also reflected on her role as a mother, sharing that while she continues to help style her son Bimby, she is entrusting major career decisions to the trusted mentors guiding him.

Despite her health struggles, Kris expressed hope and positivity as she marks another milestone year.

Kris also shared that she is hopeful about co-producing her own on-camera podcast in the future and eventually being able to create “immunity cells” once she fully recovers.

“Yet I'm so grateful to reach 55. I am now praying to reach 60 so I'll have both a PWD (Person With Disability) and Senior Citizen's Card. So many online establishments don't accept the PWD as a valid government issued ID. I never learned how to drive. I only have my passport,” she said.

The television personality has been open about her health battle, previously revealing that she is living with nine autoimmune conditions. In 2022, Kris flew to the United States to seek treatment and returned to the Philippines in 2024 as she continued her recovery journey.
