Kris Aquino has been diagnosed with two more autoimmune diseases after further medical testing in the United States, one of her older sisters Ballsy Aquino confirmed.
Ballsy shared that Kris's medical team is still researching suitable treatment that will work with her food, plant, and medicine allergies.
“Unfortunately, they are still trying to give her the right, correct treatment. She has so many allergies that all the medicines they've been trying haven't been working, or maybe they did but then the side effects--they were not too happy about,” Ballsy said during a Zoom interview with non-governmental organization Banyuhay Aotearoa, on August 20.
Kris has been trying her best to stay in good spirits and find motivation through her sons Josh and Bimby. Ballsy said, “[But the past few days], she has been in good spirits and she says that there are times--well because there was a time she was really feeling that she was about to give up because she was having such a difficult time,” Ballsy said. “But then, when she looks at the pictures of her sons or when she sees them, then she knows she still has to fight.”
Another team of doctors will be taking care of Kris's further treatments, Ballsy added. She also mentioned Kris needs to put on more weight to be fit for her treatments.
“When she left, she had two autoimmune diseases. I think now there are four,” Ballsy added. “She's not even 90 pounds now, she's like 85 or 86. For the other treatments that they want to try, she has to put on more weight. She has to get a little bit stronger.”
In June 2022, Kris made a brief update regarding her health when she and her sons tested positive for COVID-19. Back then, Kris had three confirmed autoimmune conditions: autoimmune thyroiditis, chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and Churg Strauss syndrome, collectively known as EGPA.
