Kris Aquino says her new treatment is part of the reason why she is leaving social media for now.

Kris Aquino's Instagram followers got a shocking start to their morning as the star updated her Instagram with the announcement of a social media break as well as a rundown of her current medical condition.

In the six-minute video, Kris showed videos and a collage of photos showing her undergoing several medical procedures, such as blood extraction and COVID-19 tests. It also showed her sons Josh and Bimby, as well as of her shockingly gaunt face.

An open letter was also included in the video, greeting former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III a happy birthday and detailing her concerns and worries about her medical condition and her sons.

In the letter, Kris revealed to Noynoy the different autoimmune conditions she is suffering, such as Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA) or Churg-Strauss Syndrome that she had revealed in an earlier post, as well as autoimmune thyroiditis and chronic spontaneous urticaria.

Kris also explained why this would be “goodbye for now” and why she would be taking a social media break. As part of her treatment, she will be taking Rituxan, a chemotherapy drug that is used for cancer but also for autoimmune conditions like hers.

In the caption to the post, she wrote “This isn't a permanent goodbye, ibalato nyo na lang hanggang malagpasan namin itong matinding pagsubok.” She also promised that if there was ever any good news, she will be posting once more.

Kris first announced that she would be seeking treatment in the United States for a year in April of this year in a comment on Regine Velasquez's Instagram account.

In May, Kris uploaded an Instagram post declaring that her condition is now “life-threatening.”
