Kris Bernal recently shared her thoughts as Typhoon Tino and Uwan continue to cause concern and damage across the country.
On Instagram Stories, the Kapuso actress expressed her frustration over Slater Young's hillside project, The Rise at Monterrazas, which she believes may have contributed to the intense flooding in Cebu.
“It should never have been granted permission in the first place,” she firmly said.
“But with the systemic corruption in our country, everyone seems to have their 'cut,” Kris added. “So much suffering, so much displacement of those already living beyond the poverty line - while those in power continue to live in privilege, funded by the public's money.”
The actress also expressed her anger over the government's mismanagement of funds meant for disaster preparedness.
“Lives lost in floods are tragedies that could have been prevented with proper planning and honest use of public funds,” she wrote.
She added, “Nakakadismaya! Nakakaiyak! Nakakagalit!”
Kris also reminded government leaders that “taxpayers' money is meant for the people, not for personal luxury.”
The death toll from Typhoon Tino has risen to 224, with 79 individuals still missing as of Monday, November 10. Meanwhile, two fatalities have been reported due to Typhoon Uwan.
