Social media personality Kryz Uy reveals that she's battling a bad case of fleas recently, as posted on her YouTube vlog.
In the video-sharing platform, Kryz recounted that she started noticing these flea bites when her dog, Sky, started excessively scratching its body.
“We think that Sky has gotten fleas, which is so weird kasi she's just an indoor dog, and she's taking pills that dogs take monthly for maintenance against fleas,” she tells her viewers.
“But for some reason, she still has it, and It's not the big kind. It's super small, you won't see it, and the moment you move, it immediately jumps.”
Days later, her skin started exhibiting allergic reactions to the flea bites and started scattering all over her body, including her stomach, arms, and back.
“In a day, I would get ten new bites, and it became so bad that it became so red, so itchy, and it would wake me up in the middle of the night,” she continued.
“It would then become a blister and then a boil. I tried my best not to poke it, pero hindi ko talaga matiis kasi, they're driving me crazy. I'm getting cold sweats and chills.
“Now that I've poked it, na-infect siya kaya it's getting a secondary infection.”
Kryz then focused her camera on her feet, which showed her skin covered with blisters of varying sizes.
She said, “I consulted na with my derma, and she gave me corticosteroids -- a topical one.
“I also spoke to my OB, and she gave me breastfeeding-safe corticosteroids that I take every day for a week, and also antibiotics.”
The 30-year-old mentioned that she'd keep her viewers updated, but for now, she has resorted to cleaning her home and keeping her dog under quarantine status.
“We are hiring professional cleaners to come in and clean the whole house. It's so weird because all our pieces of furniture are made of leather, it's very minimalist, it's all tiles and wood, and we clean it a lot.”
She added, “[As for] Sky, we shaved her. We 'quarantined' her, meaning she's not with me.
“I miss her so much. Sometimes, I would hear her crying because she wants to come inside the house. She's not outside. She's still indoors, but you know that the SKYPod is divided into three separate houses, right? Kung nasaan ako, bawal si Sky.”
And what about her husband Slater Young and their child Scott Knoa?
Kryz happily revealed that they had not manifested the same symptoms as her.
“Buti na lang talaga Slater and all the other members of our household are not allergic. When they get bites, it's just itchy, and in a few hours, it's gone.
“I'm so thankful that Slater is not allergic and Scott got his genes. Because Scott also got bitten, but in a few hours, it's gone,” she said.
