Kuya Kim Atienza recently shared a throwback clip of his late daughter Emman, sparking a conversation about mental health awareness.
On his Instagram, Kuya Kim Atienza posted an old video of his late daughter, Emman Atienza, where she spoke candidly about mental health.
In the video, Emman explained that while efforts to normalize mental health are increasing, she sought to debunk the public's tendency to simplify mental illnesses and mental health in general.
She argued that because of this simplification, people have developed a superficial understanding of these conditions.
“Now mental illness seems so much more simple than it actually is, and it's made it more accessible to people in a way,” Emman stated in the video.
Emman also emphasized that people are turning symptoms of mental illness, which require serious attention, into mere “little quirks,” ignoring the fact that these struggles are far from simple.
In his caption, Kuya Kim reminded everyone of the vital importance of mental health. He also highlighted the specific message shared by his late daughter, Emman, in the video.
“Mental health matters,” Kuya Kim wrote in the caption.
“A genuinely mentally ill person shows signs of mental illness and not neurotypical quirks-- Emman,” he added.
Kuya Kim also shared how passionate the late Emman was about advocating for mental health awareness, noting that his late daughter would do everything in her power to teach and educate people about the cause.
“Emman made this clip almost a year before she passed. She was a passionate mental health advocate and did everything she could despite her pain to disseminate vital information,” he wrote.
He ended his post on a touching note, expressing his immense pride for his late daughter: “Proud of you Emmansky.” This was followed by the hashtags “#mondayswithemman” and “#mentalhealthawareness.”
Remembered by her online community for her profound dedication to mental health advocacy, the late Emman Atienza used her platform to educate and inspire.
She was part of GMA Network's Status by Sparkle. Following her unexpected passing in October 2025, the industry and her Sparkle family have continued to honor her memory with deeply moving tributes.
