Kim Atienza

Find out what were the signs that Kuya Kim Atienza felt that led to the biggest decision of his life.

Our newest Kapuso, Kuya Kim Atienza, finally shares why he made the big switch to the Kapuso Network.

A member of the GMA Network press asked the renowned TV personality about his “signs” that led him to make the biggest decision of his life.

According to Kuya Kim, he had no intention of transferring to a different network up until a few months ago when he felt that he had more room for growth and improvement.

“Then, I started considering--just considering not yet deciding--moving to another channel,” he said.

Kuya Kim added that he didn't have any kind of offer with the Kapuso Network. His sister then asked GMA Executive Joey Abacan if Kuya Kim would have a career in GMA-7 if he resigns from his previous network, and the latter said yes.

“Then my sister called me and told me that 'Do you have a contract? I said No, I don't have a contract. Tapos na yung kontrata ko.' So I was open. And then, all of a sudden, the floodgate started opening.” he shared.

On that same day, Kuya Kim received his first sign and it was a message from GMA First Vice President for Public Affairs Nessa Valdellon.

“Sabi niya, 'I've been asked by the management to explore talks with you' and I said 'Wow, ang bilis!,' he said.

After a few minutes, he had some coffee with his two friends and discussed his move to the Kapuso Network.

He shared, “While we were discussing my move to GMA-7. Someone calls my name and then I looked. He was wearing a mask, he came from the gym upstairs. Paglapit niya, it was Alden Richards."

He added, “Sabi nung dalawa kong kasama ko, 'Kim, 'di ba parang sign 'yon? Pinag-uusapan natin GMA and then bumaba si Alden?' Sabi ko, 'Oo nga noh.'”

Within about 30 minutes, Kuya Kim's third sign came and it was his friend, GMA Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Communications Angel Javier, who called him for some counseling.

“And tatlo na. All in that same day when I got that message from Nessa. Kinikilabutan na ako sabi ko, 'Lord, ang mga signs na binibigay mo sobrang linaw,'” he said.

After doing his segment in his previous company, he received a text from one of his friends.

“I gave my friend a call and then may kumausap bigla sabi niya, 'Kuya Kim, Kamusta ka na?' I didn't know who it was, binigay lang niya yung telepono eh. I was calling my friend, not this person. It turned to be Annette Gozon. All in one day. All these four signs in one day."

“And then, it was very clear to me that the Lord said, 'Get the sign boy. C'mon get the sign,'” shared Kuya Kim.

After two days, he was able to bid farewell properly to his previous network and said that it was a “good [and] seamless transition.”

On October 4, Kuya Kim Atienza officially became a Kapuso following the announcement of 24 Oras.

The "Kuya Ng Bayan" is set to appear in three programs under the Kapuso Network, namely, Dapat Alam Mo!, 24 Oras, and Mars Pa More.
