Kyline Alcantara

Join Kyline as she guesses K-pop songs from famous K-pop idols on KTO Manila's weekly K-Missions with Kyline.

In case you missed it, Sparkle artist Kyline Alcantara is Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Manila's newest honorary ambassador. And apart from visiting the country where all of the favorite K-pop idols are from, one of Kyline's duties is to face fun challenges to prove her love for the Korean culture.

On KTO Manila's YouTube channel, Kyline undergoes various Korean missions or K-Missions such as making kimbap and recreating the iconic dalgona candy. The weekly series has released its last episode which featured Kyline trying to guess a few K-pop songs.

In case you didn't know, Kyline is also a fan of various K-pop idols such as BLACKPINK and BTS and she proves this as she takes on the challenge given to her.

Korean pop music is a genre of music originating from Korea, and a big part of Hallyu or “Korean Wave” which is a coined term referring to the global craze for Korean culture. It further includes various styles and genres ranging from pop, r&b, jazz, and classical music. The more modern form of K-pop dates back to 1992 with Seo Taiji and Boys, and up to what we know now as K-pop.

The first song Kyline guessed was “Kill This Love” by BLACKPINK. The actress confidently answered the K-pop girl group's name but hesitated a bit upon saying the title of the song. BLACKPINK has a number of songs that's gained so much traction from fans all over the world like “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “How You Like That,” “BOOMBAYAH,” and more.

Moving on to the next, Kyline was able to guess the second song which is “Fancy” by TWICE, the third song “SOLO” by Jennie from BLACKPINK, and the fourth “Permission to Dance” by BTS. The last song which was “Polaroid Love” by Enhypen was a bit of a struggle for her but she was familiar with it since she always hears it on TikTok. Kyline's yet to discover the fourth generation K-pop group that's also under the same agency as her favorite Kpop group, BTS.
