After overcoming one of the biggest battles in his life, PBA cager LA Tenorio made another huge milestone by helping highly respected basketball tactician Tim Cone steer Gilas Pilipinas to bag the gold medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
This ended the 60-year gold medal drought of the Philippines basketball team in the prestigious sports competition. The country last topped the 5x5 basketball competition during the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta.
Assistant coach LA, a former national team member, posted on social media that he is grateful for the opportunity to serve his country again.
He wrote on Instagram, “Gold medal after 61years!! Always grateful and thankful for the opportunity to serve our country. #LabanPilipinas🇵🇭 #NSD #Asiangames2022Hangzhou.”
Several athletes and celebrities also congratulated him on this latest feat including It's Showtime host Ryan Bang and former taekwondo champion-vlogger Japoy Lizardo.
