The government has mandated Filipinos to stay at home and practice physical distancing in order to flatten the curve on the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).
And while the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) will greatly help in stopping the spread of COVID-19, it has also given birth to some other problems: What about people who need medical attention for other health concerns? How can they avail of medical services or have their health issues checked by a doctor if they can't go to a hospital?
Fortunately, several efforts have been made to help people get their much-needed checkup without having to physically go to a hospital, and consequently decongest the health facilities that are already overwhelmed with the number of COVID-19 patients they are caring for.

Online consultations have been made available through apps or Facebook groups, such as the Lung Center COVID Ask Force and the UP Diliman Psychosocial Services (UPD PSycServ), so that doctors can entertain questions from those who want to seek medical advice but can't go to the hospital.
And now, another breakthrough comes as The Medical City (TMC) launches Lab on Wheels, which aims to make laboratory services more accessible and convenient for those who need it.

Anyone within Metro Manila who has routine diagnostic laboratory procedure requirements may avail of TMC's Lab on Wheels services, including recovering patients at home who need monitoring, the elderly, the immune-compromised, and also bedridden patients.
Some of the services offered by TMC's Lab on Wheels are hematology, blood chemistry, serological testing, and microscopy. CoViD-19- related testing is not part of their services.
For the protection of both their staff and customers, their medical personnel will be wearing basic PPE when collecting your specimen.
You have three options to get the result of your laboratory test: through e-mail, fax, or pick-up.
To avail of TMC's Lab on Wheels services, you may call the TMC laboratory at 8988-1000 ext. 6122 or 6421, from 8AM to 5PM, to book the pick-up schedule for your specimen.
For the specific rates of their services and the payment procedure, you may check their official website for more info or call the TMC lab to inquire.
