“Simple lang ang sagot, walang gustong kumuha sa akin.”

Lani Misalucha answered laughing when asked why she never pursued acting while most of her contemporaries are also known actresses.

Lani met the entertainment media, including GMANetwork.com, at the press conference of her upcoming anniversary concert titled "Still Lani" last Friday, July 18.

The Asia's Nightingale recalled that during the peak of her career, she was not only busy as a singer, but also a doting mom to her two daughters. So, she thought that maybe no one offered her acting roles because she never showed interest in it.

She explained further, “Di ba, kasi minsan kapag mayroon kang iniisip, 'yun 'yung mangyayari. Kasi, noong time na 'yun, 2000, 2001, nagkaroon ako ng very first major concert sa Araneta, 'yung talaga 'yung peak. Hindi pa ako ganun kakilala, pero napuno 'yung Araneta Coliseum.

“So, noong time na 'yun, malilit pa 'yung mga anak ko---'yung isa 10, 'yung isa seven. Naisip ko, ito pa lang, sa singing pa lang… may SOP pa ako noon. Doon pa lang alone, busy na ako.

“Ang lilit pa lang ng mga anak ko noon kaya inisip ko na ayaw kong mag-artista, e, 'di walang lumapit sa akin! Totoo, kaya kung ano 'yung iniisip mo, 'yun ang mangyayari. ”

Then, she added in jest, “Iniisip ko ang ganda-ganda ko na lang.”

Nevertheless, Lani was thankful that she got offers to sing movie and TV series theme songs.

What if she receives an acting offer?

“Kung meron mang mag-offer sa akin, gusto ko, kontrabida ako,” the OPM diva quickly responded.

Lani imagined herself as a kontrabida when asked who she would want to work with.

“Oh my gulay, hindi ko pa napag-isipan 'yan, ha. Teka, sandali nga. Iniisip ko 'yung maldita na makapal ang makeup at mataas 'yung buhok. 'Tapos, parang ang dami laging alahas na parang mahadera.

“Sino kaya ang makakatambalan ko na sasampalin ko? Si Aiai na lang, at least, kilalang-kilala niya ako.”

Lani currently works with Aiai Delas Alas in the weekly singing competition The Clash.

Lani's contentment in her career

Meanwhile, Lani says she doesn't have anything left to wish for in her showbiz career.

“Sa totoo lang, ano na ako, e, semi-retired,” she told the media.

“So I'm taking things slow, especially now na hindi ko na rin naman magagawa ['yung mga ginagawa ko] noong 20 years old ako. Parang I take it easy lang.

“There's nothing else that I would like to achieve in my life. Basically, I've experienced everything--the highs and the lows, the good and the bad. Na-experience ko na 'yun, and I would be taking that for the rest of my life.

“Lahat 'yan, mapamaliit na show or malaking show, lahat 'yun ay achievement sa akin. Para sa akin, there's nothing else that I want to achieve in my life.”

Lani's simple wish right now: “Maybe for the remaining years of my life, I just really want to spend quality time with my grandchildren and kids. 'Yun na ang pinakamagiging masaya ko."
