Lara Quigaman and her daddy

Lara Quigaman to her Daddy Nelson: "I love you papa and I'm sorry..." Read more:

Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman made everyone cry with her touching tribute to her late dad, Nelson Sanchez Quigaman.

Last August 23, Lara and her family commemorated the 64th birthday of his father who died in May 2005.

The wife of Marco Alcaraz wrote that she is feeling a bit emotional remembering how her Daddy Nelson supported her during her stint in Binibining Pilipinas in 2005.

She said, “Maybe it's pregnancy hormones, but I'm feeling all kinds of emotions today and one of those is regret, I guess. I remember when I was competing for Bb. Pilipinas in 2005. You went to the Philippines so you can watch me compete.”

Lara added that his father became her personal assistant and bodyguard during the pageant.

“You were my P.A., my bodyguard, everything I needed you to be- you even bought me a swimsuit for the screening. Everywhere I went you accompanied me. For the talent competition, I decided to sing (even though I don't) and I remember, being so stressed and desperately looking for a guitarist to play for me. And looking back I don't know why I didn't ask you to play for me!!!! You were one of the best singers and guitarist I know but for some reason, I didn't think of you. You were right there!

“But I don't remember you volunteering or saying anything... how bad you must have felt that I didn't ask you. But you never made me feel bad about it. You were there supporting me all the way.. I love you papa and I'm sorry... Oh how I wish you were the one who played for me.”

It was unfortunate that Lara's father did not witness her crowing moment in the Miss International pageant, since he was a firm believer that she could bring home the title.

In a somber tone, Lara said, “When I won Bb Pilipinas International- you were there- (but I don't even have a photo with you) you were so proud of me, (to the point that I was so embarrassed) because you were telling everybody that I would take home the International crown. But you never saw that moment. But you were right, Papa. I love you and I miss you.”

“15 years since you went home to be with Jesus. Oh how comforting to truly know that you are with Him! And that one day, we will surely see each other again.”
