Lea Salonga sang “Reflection” in the live streaming version of the Rosie O'Donnell show

Filipina singer Lea Salonga was invited by American comedian and host Rosie O'Donnell to be part of the live stream version of her show to benefit the Actors Fund, a charitable organization that helps provide for those in the theater industry.

According to the comedian, the coronavirus has temporarily closed Broadway which left thousands of theater workers unemployed.

In her bit, Lea Salonga reflected at the time when the Broadway community faced the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) crisis back in the '90s --- the same time she was selected to play Kim in the musical “Miss Saigon.”

She said, “I was [only a teenager.]

“I remember being in the Broadway company of Miss Saigon and the AIDS crisis was kind of in its infancy.

“He [Billy Porter] was saying how people of our age would still remember how crazy those times were and so many from the Broadway community were at the forefront of that battle.

“Now, we're in the midst of another one. So, if the resilience of the Broadway community back then carries on til now, we're gonna be beating this thing.”

The theater actress and singer then chose to sing the song “Reflection” from the 1998 Disney flick, Mulan.

She said while introducing the song, “In celebration of the new live-action film that was supposed to come out a few days ago. But because of the coronavirus, the release has been pushed back, obviously.

“So, I thought I would sing something from Mulan to celebrate today.”

To which Rosie replied, “This is one of my favorite songs. It's really brilliant.”

Aside from Lea Salonga, other international celebrities also performed for Rosie O'Donnell including David Foster, Gloria Estefan, Barry Manilow, Jordin Sparks, Andrew Loyd Webber, and Darren Criss.

The Rosie O'Donnell Show was able to raise more than $500,000 during the live stream.
