What about Dr. Hayden Kho’s sexy numbers and eye-catching abs? Do you also remember Tim Yap’s crazy song number with Randy Santiago or Wyngard Tracy’s nonchalance on stage? These are just a few of the highlights of last year’s Celebrity Duets. For its second season, the singing reality show has come up with another interesting roster of A-list celebrity contenders who guarantee to treat viewers to fun-filled and unforgettable performances weekly. The contenders Bayani Fernando Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Bayani Fernando surprised a lot of people when he accepted the invitation to be one of the contestants. He was supposed to join the first season but due to a conflict in his schedule, he declined the offer. This year, he finally joins the contest and is quite excited to compete and perform. JC Buendia Inspired by his fellow fashion designer and friend Frederick Peralta who competed last year, JC Buendia wants to prove to everybody that he means business when it comes to performing on stage. This early, he has a game plan all set and ready. He wants a Broadway number and a Rick Astley medley to show off his vocal prowess. Melanie Marquez Supermodel and actress Melanie Marquez promises to give it her all when it comes to fulfilling her longtime dream of singing on stage. A natural performer, she promises no less than an entertaining and engaging show. Joey Marquez Actor-politician Joey Marquez was quite hesitant at first when the Kapuso Network offered him to be part of the competition. But after careful consideration, he decided that this is a new and unfamiliar territory that he hopes to conquer. He even joked, “Who knows? I might get a contract with GMA Records?” Carlene Aguilar The introduction of this Binibining Pilipinas title holder as part of the list of contestants surprised many. However, Carlene stressed that she is a veteran of competitions and wants to prove to herself that she can indeed sing. She also let it slip that another reason why she agreed to be part of Celebrity Duets is because of the inspiring presence of fellow contender Phil Younghusband. Phil Younghusband A professional soccer player, the young Filipino-British looker has already captured the hearts of soccer enthusiasts. This time around, he is ready to take on another challenge. Boasting a perfect score of 100 in the karaoke machine, Phil is determined to get the title. Cory Quirino This lifestyle guru admits that her main reason why she joined this competition is to meet American Idol judge Simon Cowell who created Celebrity Duets. She is also determined to outlast the men in the contest and promised that she will perform to the best of her abilities. JL Cang A celebrity chef and probably one of the most nervous contestants in this year’s roster of contenders, Chef JL notes that his primary reason for joining the competition is to entertain the viewers. Will he succeed despite his raging nerves and obvious apprehension? Who among these eight contenders has a shot at being the Grand Champion?
