Linda Evangelista cosmetic treatment gone wrong

Linda Evangelista reveals she's now “unrecognizable” after cosmetic treatment mishap.

Canadian supermodel Linda Evangelista, one of the top models in the '90s, shocked everyone with her revelation on social media today that she is now “unrecognizable” after a cosmetic treatment went wrong.

Linda said she has undergone cryolipolysis, which is a cosmetic procedure done to remove areas of body fat. It works by freezing fat cells in targeted parts of the body using a medical device.

However, in Linda's case, it allegedly yielded untoward results.

“To my followers who have wondered why I have not been working while my peers' careers have been thriving, the reason is that I was brutally disfigured by Zeltiq's CoolSculpting procedure which did the opposite of what it promised,” Linda said in her statement.

“It increased, not decreased, my fat cells and left me permanently deformed even after undergoing two painful, unsuccessful corrective surgeries. I have been left, as the media has described, “unrecognizable.”

The adverse effect of cryolipolysis that Linda claims to have suffered is called Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia or PAH, wherein hardened areas of localized fat unexpectedly develop after the treatment.

In the same social media post, Linda shared how suffering from PAH has affected her career and her mental health.

“I have developed Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia or PAH, a risk which I was not made aware of before I had the procedures.

“PAH has not only destroyed my livelihood, it has sent me into a cycle of deep depression, profound sadness, and the lowest depths of self-loathing.

“In the process, I have become a recluse.”

After suffering in silence for years, Linda finally decided to file a lawsuit against the medical device company.

“Today, I took a big step towards righting a wrong that I have suffered and have kept to myself for over five years,” Linda said. “With this lawsuit, I am moving forward to rid myself of the shame, and going public with my story. I'm so tired of living this way. I would like to walk out my door with my head held high, despite not looking like myself any longer.”
