Lionel Richie

Veteran singer Lionel Richie was hospitalized following his concert in St. Louis, Missouri over the weekend, with reports saying he is being treated for possible dehydration.

Lionel Richie was hospitalized after performing at a concert in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 29.

According to a report by TMZ published on August 31, the 77-year-old singer checked himself into a hospital after the show and was admitted to the intensive care unit.

Sources cited by the outlet said doctors were treating Lionel for possible dehydration. He was reportedly hoping to be discharged on September 1.

A source close to his concert tour also told The Hollywood Reporter that Lionel is in stable condition.

Fans who attended the St. Louis show told TMZ that Lionel appeared to need some assistance toward the end of his performance. He reportedly asked his team to bring a chair onstage and performed “All Night Long” while seated.

Lionel is currently on tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, with their next scheduled show set for September 26 in San Francisco.

The hospitalization comes just months after the singer was reportedly taken to a hospital after falling ill during a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, in June.

Lionel, a former member of Motown group The Commodores, has enjoyed a decades-long solo career with hits including “Hello,” “Endless Love,” “Dancing on the Ceiling,” “Stuck On You,” and “Say You, Say Me.”

He has also been a judge on the reality singing competition American Idol since 2018.
