When the COVID-19 pandemic began, many people lost their jobs because of the lockdown.
In order to support their family, others turned to online selling, offering a wide array of food like baked sushi, pasta, milk tea, and many others.
Since these small businesses don't have the budget to get celebrities to be their endorsers, several personalities like Aiko Melendez and Marvin Agustin promised to promote and support these small businesses through their social media platforms.
Aiko and Marvin usually posted reviews through their respective YouTube accounts, and GMANetwork.com listed five businesses that were approved by either Aiko or Marvin.
1. Happi Sushi Bake
Happi Sushi Bake is based in Subic, Zambales, the hometown of Aiko's boyfriend, Zambales Vice Governor Jay Khonghun.
According to Aiko, the Breakfast Sushi deserves to be eaten on her ”cheat day.”
Aside from the Breakfast Sushi, Happi Sushi Bake also has Kani-Tina Volcano, Kani-Tuna Medley, and California Classic.
2. Biryani Bro's
Celebrity chef Marvin described Biryani Bro's products as the ”best we've had during the lockdown.”
Some of their products are Indian-Pakistani food like vegetable samosa, and buttered chicken. Biryani Bro's is located in Makati City.
3. The Hungry Foodlum
Even though Aiko is still on her calorie-counting diet, she still tasted The Hungry Foodlum's Bibingkang Malagkit sa Latik and gave it two thumbs-up.
Aside from their Bibingkang Malagkit sa Latik, The Hungry Foodlum also sells Chef Tony's Popcorn.
4. Pinoy Yakitori
For Pinoy Cuisine enthusiasts, Pinoy Yakitori is a perfect choice. Marvin gave their products a 5/5 score in ”sulit” and a 4/5 in ”sarap.”
Some of their best-sellers are chicken yakitori, pinoy pork belly barbecue, and salmon belly.
5. All You Knead
All You Knead's cheese rolls got the attention of Aiko, who is a self-confessed fan of cheese rolls.
After eating one cheese roll, Aiko couldn't say anything except ”ang sarap.”
Aside from cheese rolls, All You Knead also sells ensaymada, and ube cheese pandesal.
During these trying times, Marvin and Aiko proved that we can still support everyone and show the world what the Filipino ”bayanihan” is all about.
