Liza wrote a lengthy post on Facebook yesterday, August 4 and uploaded a two-minute video of his dad.

She was deeply saddened that he passed away just three weeks before of his 86th birthday.

“With great sadness, the Ilarde family announces the loss of our beloved father Eddie Ilarde. He passed away on 04 August 2020, just three weeks shy of his 86th birthday, of natural causes (not Covid-related). In light of MECQ, there will be no wake.

“Our dad lived a full and meaningful life. He started from very humble beginnings and worked very hard to reach his stature.”

Liza went on to enumerate some of his dad's achievements, including being a public servant.

“He served the country as a Councilor, Congressman, and Senator.

"He was also a pioneer in radio and TV, most notably for his programs Student Canteen and Kahapon Lamang.

"He also championed our senior citizens with his Golden Eagles Society.”

Before ending her post, Liza extended her utmost appreciation for the prayers and well wishes their family received during these trying times.

“Thank you, everyone, for your prayers and well wishes. The family would love to hear some of your nice memories of him or how he touched your life by posting in the comments.

“I hope you enjoy listening to his voice one last time. Mabalos!”

Aside from being a Super Radyo dzBB anchor, Eddie was also known for his stint as a host of Student Canteen.
