Filipina actress Liza Soberano marks another milestone in her career as she makes her Hollywood debut with her new film Lisa Frankenstein.
Fans can expect a new Liza as she takes on a new challenge in a horror, comedy, and fantasy movie, where she will be playing the role of Terry, the stepsister of the main character Lisa.
"It's the kind of movie I've always wanted to do. It has horror, comedy, and romance in one. I was looking for a role that would really push me. Sure, it's a huge risk for my career, but that's what's exciting about it. I know I've learned a lot no matter how it turns out. That's what counts,” she says.
As the film's setting is in the 80's, Liza's look will be in full retro as a young high school teen.
"It's set in the 80s, so the whole look--the hair, makeup--is totally 80s, which is new for me,” she happily shares.
Lisa Frankenstein centers around the character of Lisa Swallows (played by Kathryn Newton), who accidentally revives a corpse (Cole Sprouse) from the Victorian era. Together, the two will unfold a dark humorous journey while seeking love, happiness, and probably a few missing body parts for the corpse. The narrative is a unique love story that blends with genres of comedy, romance, and fantasy.
The film is directed by Zelda Williams and written by award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody. It features several international stars like Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies), Cole Sprouse (Riverdale), Joe Chrest (Stranger Things), Henry Eikenberry (The Crowded Room), and Carla Gugino (San Andrea).
The movie held its premiere night in Los Angeles last February 6. Together with her co-stars, Liza was seen enjoying herself on the black carpet wearing a gothic-inspired tube dress and a flower-designed choker.
The most-awaited movie will be shown in Philippine cinemas nationwide starting February 7.
