Before turning into one of Kapuso’s full-fledged artists, LJ Reyes has gone under the strict mentorship of Direk Gina Alajar. How does the StarStruck alumna feel working with the director-actress in the TV reprise of Yagit?

LJ admits that workshops in StarStruck is far from her experience with Direk Gina on Yagit’s set. While she feels ecstatic working with a familiar director, she also feels pressured.

“Nung nag-start ako kilala na niya ako. Nakita niya rin somehow ‘yung growth ko. Parang kinakabahan ako na baka mamaya alam niya kung ano ‘yung potential ko so baka ano ipagawa sa akin,” she shared lightheartedly.

“Ang sarap kasi nun and very comforting to know ‘yung direktor mo, she knows you… Hinahayaan ka niya to do your thing but at the same time she supports you. Sasabihin niya sa ’yo, 'oh kulang pa' o 'dagdag pa tayo' o 'bawas konti sa aming lahat',” she added.

LJ plays Flora in GMA’s upcoming family drama remake. She works in the parlor and later on provides for the four kids in the characters of Tomtom, Ding, Jocelyn and Eliza.

She also shared that her loud character who lacks finesse is very far from her personality.

“Parang wala ‘yun sa comfort zone ng kilos ko. [Pero] 'pag nasanay ka na dun sa character, 'pag kilalang-kilala mo na ‘yung character, parang nagiging extension na lang siya of who you are,” she said.

Before they start taping, LJ finished portraying her miserable character in Cinemalaya’s The Janitor as Melba, the pregnant wife of lead character Dennis Trillo.
