In an interview with Startalk TX last May 11, Kapuso actress LJ Reyes was asked about the status of her relationship with actor Paulo Avelino. The two have a son, Ethan Akio, who was born in 2010.

In an interview with Startalk TX last May 11, Kapuso actress LJ Reyes was asked about the status of her relationship with actor Paulo Avelino. The two have a son, Ethan Akio, who was born in 2010.

Avelino was not present when Reyes gave birth to their son in New York three years ago, because his U.S. Visa was denied. After the birth of their son, both Reyes and Avelino were able to make a showbiz comeback and both have garnered respective achievements.

Reyes won Best Supporting Actress in the 2010 Cinemalaya awards for her performance in The Leaving. Avelino went on to win Best Actor at the 2012 Gawad Urian Awards, wherein he failed to mention LJ and their son in his speech.

From this incident, speculations have started that the couple have parted ways. In an earlier interview with Startalk TX, Reyes was quoted saying, “Hindi na dapat issue ‘yun eh…kasi kung kilala mo naman ‘yung taong iyon, di ba? Hindi naman talaga siya good speaker. Kahit naman siguro ako, kung manalo ako sa Gawad Urian, mara-rattle ako at matutulala na lang ako.”

Avelino was again criticized during the 2013 Golden Screen Awards for Television where he was tasked to present an award at the last minute.

“Mahirap magtrabaho kung napipilitan ka lang,” was stated by Avelino during the said awards night. This did not sit well with ENPRESS. An apology was issued by Avelino and his manager Leo Dominguez.

Dominguez said in his official statement, "He was just trying to crack an innocent joke to lighten up the program, with no intention to offend anyone, most especially his friends from the press. He now realizes the consequences of his statement and he would like to exhaust all means to reconcile with those he offended.”

Startalk TX asked Reyes if she considers Avelino a “good boy gone bad” because of his reputation with the press. The Kapuso actress replied, “I don’t think na may masasabi ako. Basta kasi for me, importante na masaya ako, masaya si Aki, masaya kami, ‘yun.”

When asked about the status of her relationship with with Avelino, Reyes remained elusive and concluded the interview with a meaningful statement: “Basta, happy kami. Basta sana maging happy tayong lahat parati. Let’s all be a blessing to each and every one, to each other. Let’s all be happy and happy Mother’s Day to everyone, to all the mothers and expectant mothers.” -- Text by Samantha Portillo, GMANetwork.com
